Why People Join Locor

Our work is varied, from rewinding motors and checking bearings to fault finding on variable speed drives and supporting shutdowns on site. The job suits people who like practical problem-solving, steady workmanship and doing electrical work the proper way.

We are based in Germiston and support customers across Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Pretoria, Vereeniging and Durban, so some roles involve travel, early starts and working around plant conditions. In this line of work, attention to lockout procedures and safe isolation is not optional, it is part of the job.

Roles We Commonly Recruit For

Depending on the work on hand, we look for people in the workshop, in the field and in support roles. Some positions need strong technical grounding, while others suit organised people who can keep jobs moving and records accurate.

  • Motor rewinding and winding workshop support
  • Variable speed drive repair and inspection
  • Field service coordination and site reporting
  • Customer support and job admin
  • Shutdown planning and spares assessment assistance

What The Work Involves

Electric motor work can include stripping, cleaning, testing, rewinding, bearing replacement and reassembly. Drive repair work may involve inspection of internal components, cable checks, panel cleaning, commissioning support and fault tracing on site. Some days are in the workshop, other days are at a plant in Boksburg, Kempton Park or further afield.

We expect people to follow safe working methods, use test equipment correctly and hand over work neatly. When a machine has stopped, the pressure is real, so calm thinking and proper reporting make a big difference.

Skills And Qualities We Value

Formal training helps, but attitude matters just as much. We look for people who can listen, ask the right questions and keep accurate notes on what was found and what was done.

  • Practical electrical or mechanical experience
  • Good fault finding and testing habits
  • Respect for lockout and isolation procedures
  • Comfort with workshop tools and test instruments
  • Clear communication with clients and team members

Meet The Team You Could Work With

Locor is led by Sibusiso Mthembu, with support from Annelie van Wyk, Thabo Nkosi, Megan Naidoo, Johan Pretorius and Lerato Molefe. The team brings together workshop knowledge, field coordination and customer support, so new people learn from day-to-day work not just from a manual.

We value people who work well with others and keep things tidy. A careful winding job or a correct drive diagnosis saves time, money and a lot of stress for the client.

A Practical Workplace In Gauteng

Our base in Germiston keeps us close to industrial areas across Ekurhuleni and the broader Gauteng corridor. The work can be demanding, especially during load-shedding, shutdowns and tight production schedules, but it is steady, useful work for people who want to build real skill.

If you are serious about electrical and electromechanical work, and you understand that safety must come first, we would like to hear from you.
